As a former Diplomat in Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria, Sweden and Israel and current Secretary General of the German Council on Foreign Relations I have come to understand that diplomatic skills and talent are necessary to succeed in a fast-paced environment which exposes us to increasing international and interconnected challenges.
In times of political unrest, it is of utmost importance to understand the diversity of cultures, religions, ethnicities and human behavior that we are facing on this planet. For this reason, I believe that UNEN e.V. is a unique opportunity for young leaders of tomorrow to understand complex global issues and gain intercultural competences for international cooperation. Not only can students practice their soft skills, but more important gain valuable insight into procedures and relevant topics of political education.
Having studied Law myself at the Friedrich-Alexander University (FAU), I applaud the initiative UNSN e.V. that is led by voluntary young professionals from the FAU who play a vital role in organizing this project. I hope to see the United Nations Society Nuremberg e.V. further flourish and wish them all the best and more success to come in the future!

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
ich freue mich, dass eine Institution wie die United Nations Society Nuremberg e.V. durch ihre Angebote im Bereich der politischen Bildungsarbeit ein ehrenamtliches Umfeld schafft, um die Bildung junger Menschen zu fördern.
Als ehemaliger Assistant Secretary General for Planning and Support of Peacekeeping Operations der Vereinten Nationen begrüße ich insbesondere den Bezug der UNSN e.V. zu den Vereinten Nationen und ihrer Arbeit. Ob durch Lehrgänge mit den Themenschwerpunkten Peacekeeping oder durch die Simulation von UN-Konferenzen: die bildungspolitische Ausrichtung im Einklang mit diesem wichtigen Themenfeld internationaler Politik ist ein wichtiger Grundstein bei der Auseinandersetzung mit den immer komplexer werdenden internationalen Konflikten.
Den ehrenamtlichen Charakter, auf den die Mitglieder ihr Engagement stützen und die gemeinnützige Ausrichtung unterstütze ich sehr gerne. An alle noch nicht Entschlossenen richte ich gerne den Aufruf, sich zu engagieren und für die UNSN e.V. aktiv zu werden! Demokratie, wie wir sie heute kennen muss hart erkämpft und verteidigt werden. Da die politische Bildung hierbei einen zentralen Schlüssel zum Erfolg darstellt, haben Sie hier die Möglichkeit, ein Teil dieses Erfolgs zu werden!
Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass die UNSN e.V. großartige Gelegenheiten bietet um interkulturelle Kompetenz zu erlangen und neue Kontakte zu knüpfen. Als Mitglied haben Sie die Chance, einen interessanten Eindruck von der Funktionsweise der UNO im Bereich Peacekeeping zu gewinnen und somit interessante berufliche Perspektiven zu erhalten. Aus diesem Grund wünsche ich allen bisher und auch zukünftig Beteiligten viel Freude und Erfolg bei der United Nations Society Nuremberg e.V.!

As a politician and member of the German Parliament I am particularly keen to give young people the enthusiasm for politics. BayernMUN is a very well suited conference to get an insight into world politics. The UN General Assembly will be held as one session for more than 150 students from all around the globe who can participate in a unique simulation that offers opportunities to socialize, an environment conducive to professional negotiations and challenging topics. Due to its practical approach that helps the participants not only to experience the complexity of international politics, but also to get the opportunity to approach this challenge in a very realistic way. Discussing global problems, raising awareness for social inequalities and thereby improving their own capabilities in terms of speech training and negotiation skills are equally important components of the BayernMUN.
The United Nations Society Nuremberg e.V. is the host of BayernMUN and was founded in 2012 to spread the spirit of mutual international understanding and to spread as well knowledge and interest in the work of the United Nations. In 2017 for the fifth time in a row and the first time the conference is taking place in the historical city of Nuremberg. I want to congratulate UNSN e.V. for their achievements and expanding its work to the next level!
